Choosing the Unknown and Succeeding

Fear and lack of decision making can totally stop your flow of progression to meet your goals and aspirations.  With every problem there has to be a solution, right?  That's what I've heard from many mentors.  Whether you're talking financial, personal, or in business every problem has to have a solution.  One of the awful things that we run into with the solution is the unknown of whether it will work or not.  The fear of the unknown is what keeps us stuck.  It is time to bust a  move if we're ever going to attain our goals and aspirations.

The Good Book tells a story of 4 lepers who were about to die because of famine in the land.  From the onset, these four individuals had the strike of leprosy against them.  This inferiority complex can keep us away from dreams and visions set before us.  The lack of self-esteem can make one feel that they are not worthy of the goal or accomplishment.  Yet these four lepers had a decision to make.  One, they could stay in the position that they were in and DIE.  Secondly, they could go into the city and die because of the famine going on in the land.  Finally, they could go into a hard and difficult place, the unknown, the enemy's camp.  Surely, one of two things would happen in the camp of the enemy.  They would find food and comfort or they would be killed.

What decision would you make?  The options are stay where you're at and die, go to the familiar and die, or go to the unknown and either live or die.  The unknown gives you greatest opportunity at success.  The unknown is not so bad.  For these lepers, the unknown worked out great.  They went into the camp of the enemy that turned out to be abandoned with the food and spoils left in the camp.

It's obvious that if we do nothing then nothing will change.  We stand the chance of dying emotionally and spiritually.  Where are you now?  At the end of your rope?  Confused and in a state of lack?  Don't be afraid to take the route that gives you the greatest opportunity for success.  One of two things can happen.  You'll either succeed or you will fail.  Can failing one more time be any worse than it is right now?  What if you succeed?  Will that be the bump that takes you and yours to the next level.  You'll never know if you stay in the same position that you've always stayed in.

As I type this post, I sense a lot to say but I cannot put the words together.   Ahh, now they begin to flow.  The Thanksgiving holiday was enjoyable.  It was actually even more enjoyable when my two year old niece accidentally launched my trusted blackberry to its fatal demise .  I should have never asked her to bring it to me. I reaped the fruit of my laziness, but it was a good way to get disconnected.  I was just happy to confirm that I selected the insurance.

I enjoyed the fam on Thursday, but went into hermit mode the rest of the weekend and enjoyed every minute of it....even the disconnection time.  I did read a book, "Choices" by Og Mandino.  Based on the decision that I made to quit my sales job with CDC News last week, it was a timely read.  I must admit that my decision to leave was not based on a highly spiritual conscientious choice.  However, for me, it was the right choice to focus on more important matters for me and mine.

Life is Good!  Our lot in life is better than most.  When i finish this post and leave this house, every opportunity is set before me.  We merely need to take that daunting first step and seize hold to the moment.
